Robin Barnett began her massage practice in 1989. She has extensive experience working in a health and fitness center, including providing bodywork for chiropractic patients. She has helped clients with a wide range of ailments such as headaches, jaw tightness, neck and back pain, sciatica, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, thoracic outlet and carpal tunnel syndromes. She does not diagnose conditions and works cooperatively with referring practitioners.
Her repeat clients include medical doctors, doctors of chiropractic, acupuncturists, nurses, physician's assistants, physical therapists, life coaches, personal trainers, bodyworkers, psychotherapists, and other people who recognize the importance of massage to one's well being.
With each massage, her commitment is to meet the client's need for therapeutic work while providing a relaxing, healing, time-out from the stress of every day life.
She utilizes a variety of modalities, the most specialized of which uses a rhythmic stretching of muscles with massage to the belly of the muscle. This Muscle Release Technique elongates chronically shortened muscles. It relieves pain at attachment sites, joints, or other areas where pain may have been referred due to nerve entrapment.
Her years of experience in mediation and collaborative problem-solving also influence her work. She see the body as many parts working in collaboration with one another. The physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual all work together (and are not separate from one another) and all need respect and validation. This is the heart of her work.
